What is a Toastmasters Club?
A Toastmasters club is a group of people who want to improve their communication and leadership skills. Club members follow the Toastmasters program at their own pace. The program focuses on practice and the meeting schedule is designed to give members maximum opportunities to speak in front of an audience, either by preparing a speech or presentation or by taking a role in the meeting. Members help each other by evaluating other members, providing feedback and participating in the mentorship program.
CN Collaborators Mission
We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
CN Collaborators Toastmasters Club was founded in 1987. It is a bilingual club – French and English. At its foundation, the club was constituted only of CN employees, but it’s now open to anyone. It is actually a very diverse and inclusive club. Our members are from different countries, cities, and range of professions. There is a good gender balance and a lot of respect amongst our members. We are also a very warm and open minded club. In our club, you will get many opportunities to speak, to get feedback from other members and to give feedback to help others improve.
CN Collaborators Toastmasters Club has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, such as the President’s Distinguished Club, Smedley Award and Talk Up Toastmasters. We are also very proud of some of our members who have won several district level contests.
About Toastmasters international
Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Our organization, founded in 1924 by Ralph Smedley in California, has more than 352,000 memberships. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 16,400 clubs in 141 countries that make up our global network of meeting locations.
The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program. Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback—and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.
